Yankton ordinance limits canines, not felines
YANKTON - The city of Yankton has a limit on the number of dogs that can be in a home but not on the number of cats.
And that's the way it will stay - at least according to the city commission.
Commissioners last week decided not to put a limit on the number of cats per household. The discussion followed a recent incident when a Yankton woman was found to have 20 unhealthy cats in her home.
Police Chief Jerry Hisek told the city commission that there's more of a problem with wild cats roaming around than with people who own cats.
