Traffic on Interstate 90 between Exit 63 and Exit 67 east of Rapid City will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound and westbound lanes beginning Monday to allow crews to replace surfacing on the old Ellsworth Main Gate bridges.

A 12-foot width restriction will be in place at these locations for the duration of the work. An over width detour route will be signed directing over width traffic to use Exit 63, the Box Elder Service Road, and Exit 67. Ellsworth personnel also are encouraged to utilize Exit 63 and the Box Elder Service Road to avoid the work area.

The project was originally scheduled to be complete in October 2007, but complications delayed completion. Work is now anticipated to be complete by mid-June.

The Department will maintain a 65 mph speed limit during normal working hours at this location until work is complete. A 45 mph speed limit will be in place during intermittent work operations that present a hazard to workers.

Heavy Constructors of Rapid City is the contractor on the project.
