PIERRE - The state Brand Board and the South Dakota
Stockgrowers Association have come to a tentative agreement on a
new brand-inspection contract.
Officials say it will allow the program to continue in West
River counties without major changes for ranchers or sale
barns.
Brand Board Chairman Mark Kimball said the agreement lets the
board manage the brand-inspection-fee account.
Brand-inspection expenses will be paid from a budget that is
approved in advance by both the Brand Board and Stockgrowers
Association.
Stockgrowers President Rick Fox said both sides got what they
wanted from the tentative agreement, which will be reviewed by the
Stockgrowers board of directors next week.
