A preliminary hearing is scheduled next week for the Rapid City man facing first-degree murder charges in the death of a man found at Sheridan Lake, west of Rapid City.

Robert Goulding, 51, is being held at Pennington County Jail. A bond hearing scheduled Thursday was canceled.

Instead, he will appear before Magistrate Judge Scott Bogue at a 4 p.m. Dec. 11 preliminary hearing that will decide how the case proceeds in 7th Circuit Court. If convicted, Goulding could face the death penalty or life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Goulding was arrested two days after a fisherman found the body Nov. 24 of Allen Kissner, 56, at Dakota Point Picnic Area at Sheridan Lake. An autopsy found that Kissner died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities listed Allen Kissner's home address as Redfield, but Spink County authorities say they think he had been living in Faulk County for years and had been in the Rapid City area for about three weeks. Pennington County officials said Kissner and Goulding knew each other.

The Faulk County Clerk of Courts office said Kissner faced drug-related charges at the time of his death.

Goulding, a local entrepreneur with his own computer business, was a partner in a Chicago-style hotdog stand, Dogsters, on Main Street in 2004. Earlier this year, he was a volunteer community blogger for the Rapid City Journal, posting stories about making beer and ale at home as the "Lager Blogger."
