A 17-year-old Rapid City girl died Sunday morning in a rollover accident on Catron Boulevard.
Chelsea Miller was eastbound on Catron in a 1995 Geo Metro about a half mile east of Highway 79 when she attempted to pass an eastbound 2007 Nissan Altima driven by 45-year-old Timothy Cole of Little Canada, Minn., according to a Rapid City Police Department report. Miller struck the rear of the Altima, lost control of the Metro and rolled. Miller was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the report said.
Speed and alcohol appeared to have contributed to the accident, according to the report. Miller was not wearing a seat belt.
