The enrollment at Oglala Lakota College is at an all-time high with 1,804 students registered for the fall semester.
OLC president Thomas Shortbull said officials are excited about the enrollment numbers, but are now short on space. Housing and Urban Development funding of $800,000 will assist with creating four additional classrooms in the college's Rapid City Extension Center, the largest of the OLC centers with 15 classrooms.
OLC is a four-year tribal college with nine college centers on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, one on the Cheyenne River Reservation and an extension center in the Black Hills, serving more than 1,700 students a semester.
