City can't go wrong by electing Kooiker

Sam is applying for a difficult job and is the best qualified for the position. Considering his education, background and training, he is a formidable candidate to beat. Sam is very approachable and arrogance is not in his vocabulary. He is honest and forthright in his opinions and conducts appropriate research before making any decisions.

Rapid City would be getting "the best bang for the buck" with Sam. He has both civic experience and administrative expertise. It is time to effectively use Sam's two eyes - integrity and intelligence. Rapid City can't go wrong with Sam Kooiker.

Don't squander your right to implement change; vote for Sam Kooiker as your next Mayor on Tuesday, June 26.

Mountain lion attacks on peacocks no reason to killThe recent article about mountain lions killing peacocks is a prime example of more slanted propaganda designed to fuel the ignorance behind the population-endangering mountain lion hunting season. If the birds were killed due to a coyote or several coyotes, this would hardly have been a newsworthy issue.

As far as the excuse that mountain lions pose a potential threat to school children or the elderly, I propose a hunting season on domestic dogs, as they kill and injure many more people annually than mountain lions, who incidentally have never even had a documented attack on a human in South Dakota.

It will be sad when the mountain lion goes the way of the wild bear and wolf in the Black Hills due to zealous game wardens who are only interested in furthering their personal agendas, which is made obvious due to the blatantly inflated numbers or random estimates submitted to the public as solid fact.

I am sorry to hear about the peacocks, though. Who knew they were indigenous to the area?

Jungemann dedicated to Douglas School DistrictI want to encourage the voters of the Douglas School District to cast their ballots for Jan Jungemann June 19. Jan is an important contributor to this district, first as a retired employee and second as an appointed member of the current school board. She cares about each and every student that attends Douglas, and she is committed to providing them the best education possible. She is hard working, fair and dedicated, and she will be a welcome permanent addition to our school board.

Rapid City

Rapid City has a chance to elect a new mayor with experience, both hands on and administratively. Sam Kooiker has the necessary attributes to lead Rapid City in an open and ethical manner. He is independent and has exhibited all the qualities leadership and fair play embody.
