Hospital honors six with nursing recognition

RAPID CITY - Rapid City Regional Hospital recently honored six employees with nursing recognition star awards.

The guiding star-mentor award was presented to Glenda Vice, a clinical resource nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. Susan Jones, a registered nurse and case manager, was awarded the gold star-service award. Molly Meehan-Rasby, a registered nurse in the maternal child department and certified lactation consultant, was chosen as the shining star-community award winner. Diana Foster, a recent nursing graduate, was awarded the rising star-novice award. John TerBeest, registered nurse in the intensive care unit, was honored as the super star-expert award recipient.

The nurse advocate award was awarded to Patricia Hamilton.

Briggs speaks at

nurses convention

RAPID CITY - Rex Briggs recently was the keynote speaker at the South Dakota chapter of the American Psychiatric Nurses convention in Sioux Falls.

He spoke about anxiety and stress-related conditions.

Briggs also was asked to present for the South Dakota State University and University of South Dakota nursing programs, training students to recognize anxiety and stress conditions.

to host guest speaker

RAPID CITY - Connie Pich will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Black Hills Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia Syndrome Support Group at 10 a.m. today in the Rushmore Room of Rapid City Regional Hospital.

The title of her presentation is "How to Keep Living When All You Want to Do is Die."

Meetings are open to the public. Family members and loved ones are encouraged to attend. Organizers ask that no scented products be worn to the meetings.
