Contract approved for Mitchell stadium
The Mitchell School Board has finalized an agreement with Puetz Corp. for design and construction management services for a new $2.5 million stadium at Joe Quintal field.
Company spokesman Mark Puetz says demolition likely will be done in January, with construction of the new stadium beginning in the spring and wrapping up in early September.
Activities director Geoff Gross says Mitchell’s first home football game of the 2010 season is Sept. 3 against Brookings. If the stadium is not completed by then, Brookings will host the game.
Business Manager Steve Culhane says the stadium is being financed through bonds that will be repaid over 15 years, bringing the total cost of the project to $2.9 million.
