Class B golf: Comets, Chargers atop state Class B

YANKTON - Clark won its fourth consecutive girls title and Sioux Falls Christian claimed its third consecutive boys championship Tuesday during the state B high school golf tournaments.

The Comets shot 249 and finished with a 601 total at Fox Run Golf Course.

Colman-Egan was second at 660.

Sully Buttes (590) and Wall (297) took sixth and seventh, respectively.

Individually, sophomore Kimmy Kaufman won her second career title with a 148 total. She shot 73 on Tuesday. Her sister, senior Ashley Kaufman was second at 153. Kimmy won in 2005 and finished runner-up in 2006. Ashley closed out her high school career with two titles - 2004 and 2006 - and two second-place finishes - 2002 and 2007.

Clark's third score of the day was a 98 from Briana Paulson. Paulson tied for 47th at 205 with teammate Tara DesLauriers.

Sully Buttes' Katelynn Lamb was fifth at 166. Katelyn Crown, of Wall, tied for eighth with a 174, and Newell's Jordan Trohkimoinen took 10th at 179.

In the boys division, Sioux Falls Christian carded a 245 at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, giving the winning Chargers a two-day total of 487. Dell Rapids St. Mary was second with a 504.

Gregory (520) wound up in a tie for sixth and Mobridge (530) took eighth.

Individually, DRSM's Matthew Erickson, last season's runner-up, closed out his high school career with an individual title. He shot a second-round 73 for a 147-total and a 10-shot win. Colman-Egan's Lance Relf took second at 157

S.F. Christian's Rainey Reynolds was third at 159. Teammate Kyle Schock tied for sixth with a 161 and Mike Rozenboom tied for 14th with a 167.

Gregory's Brandon Arizmendiz finished fifth with a 160 (78-81). Dayton Jensen of Mobridge tied for 10th at 165.
