MOBRIDGE - Harding County scored a 42-26 win over Campbell County in the Region 8B championship game on Tuesday night as the Ranchers gained a spot in the State B tournament at Huron on March 6-8 with the victory.
After a slow-paced first half, Harding County led 14-13 at halftime, the Ranchers went on to outscore the Express 28-13 during the final 16 minutes to punch their ticket to state.
Samantha Jensen scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Harding County (19-3 overall).
After losing to New Underwood in late January, the Ranchers have now won eight games in a row.
Natalie Van Beek scored 13 points for Campbell County (13-9) before fouling out.
Campbell County made only eight field goals in the contest.
BOYS GAMES
DISTRICT 11A
PRESHO/CHAMBERLAIN - Tyler Ollerich recorded a double-double with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds as Lyman ended Crow Creek's season with a 76-42 victory in the District 11A playoffs.
Five players scored in double figures, including Ollerich, to fuel the Raider win. Leeland O'Dell scored 13 points. Lex Moore and Zane Abrahamson chipped in with 12 points apiece, and Shae McClanahan added 11.
Larry Gayton was the only Chieftain in double figures with 12 points. Crow Creek finished its season at 2-19.
Lyman shot 68 percent from the field, compared with 35 percent for Crow Creek. The Raiders improve to 15-6 and will play Chamberlain on Thursday for the district title.
Chamberlain avenged a regular-season loss to Miller Area by defeating the Rustlers 45-41 in a hard-fought District 11A semifinal contest Tuesday night.
The Cubs trailed 34-32 after three quarters of play, but regained the lead with 2 minutes to go in the final quarter and held on for the win.
Wade Hickey led the Cubs with 19 points, and Michael Schoenfelder chipped in 10 points.
Miller Area (11-10) was led by Grant Rediger's 14 points, and Taylor Carr added 10 points.
"We had three kids very sick coming into tonight and Miller Area beat us in triple overtime in the regular season," said Chamberlain head coach Allan Bertram. "We are big rivals, so tonight was a big win for us."
Chamberlain (12-9) meets Lyman on Thursday night in the district championship game.
DISTRICT 13A
MISSION/PLATTE - Todd County and Platte-Geddes both scored semifinal wins to set up a Falcon-Panther championship game at Winner on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
On their respective home courts on Tuesday, Todd County spilled Gregory 58-55, and Platte-Geddes held off Winner 47-41.
The Falcons' Jordan His Law scored 14 of his 20 points in the third quarter as Todd County rallied back from a 25-18 halftime deficit.
Gunner Krogman added 17 and Mark Dubray had 14 for Todd County in the win.
Gregory's Alex Chocholousek dropped in 17 points, Luke Whalen scored 11 and Jake Hahne added 10 to lead the Gorillas.
Gregory (7-13 overall) had a last second look to tie the game, but Whalen's 3-point attempt wouldn't fall as the Falcons held on.
"Gregory did a nice job of taking us out of our game," Todd County head coach Mike Hammer said. "They gave us everything we could handle."
Platte-Geddes got off to a 10-0 start in the first minute, and Winner could never get the deficit under six points the rest of the game as the Mustangs prevailed.
"We got off to a great start," Platte-Geddes head coach Frank Cutler said.
"You have to credit Jim Drake's guys for not giving in. They played hard all game long."
The two long-time coaches have faced each other for the past 19 years on the hardwood with their respective schools.
Jordan Johnson had 18 points and Collin Ringling added nine points and 15 rebounds for the Panthers.
Zach Horstman did all he could to keep Winner (12-9) in the game, as he finished with a game-high 26 points, including six 3-pointers.
Platte-Geddes (18-3) knocked off Todd County (18-3) 83-61 earlier in the month in Platte.
DISTRICT 14A
MARTIN - Richard Spotted Tail and Tim Little Shield combined for 49 points as St. Francis Indian toppled Bennett County 64-49 in the District 14A semifinals.
Trailing by three points at the end of the first quarter, St. Francis Indian outscored Bennett County 23-8 in the second stanza to take the lead 33-21 at halftime.
Spotted Tail scored a game-high 29 points and Little Shield added 20 points for St. Francis. T.J. Bad Hand chipped in 10 points for the winners.
Bennett County (6-15 overall) was led by J.P. Slattery with 16 points, and James Flye followed with 13 points.
St. Francis Indian (4-17) will face Little Wound in the District 14A championship game Saturday night at Rapid City Stevens High School. The Warriors lost all three meetings with the Mustangs in the regular season.
SATURDAY GAME
Sundance 65, Lusk 53
DOUGLAS, Wyo. - Cody Emrick scored a game-high 27 points as Sundance, Wyo., earned the 2A East Region title with a 65-53 win over Lusk, Wyo., on Saturday.
Sundance finished with three players in double-figure scoring. Nick Kerkvliet added 14 points in the win and Dude Humphrey netted 13 points.
Kaare Sigvarsten paced Lusk with 15 points.
Both teams advanced to the 2A State BBB tournament in Casper beginning on Thursday.
