Pierre survived a Rapid City Central scare in the third quarter, holding off the Cobblers, 59-48, in prep girls basketball action on Friday in Pierre.
Trailing 31-17 at the half, the Cobblers went on a 23-7 run in the third to take a 40-38 lead.
Pierre however recovered to close out the game on a 21-8 run of their own to seal the win.
Jacqee Jasinski scored 18 points to lead the Cobblers while Kattie Ranta scored 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Chelsey Biegler came off the bench to score eight points for Central.
Pierre (4-0 overall) outscored Central by 11 points from the free throw line 19-8.
Rapid City Central (3-3) will visit Aberdeen Central today before returning home.
ST. THOMAS MORE 55, REDFIELD 26: Caitlin Duffy dropped in a game-high 21 points as St. Thomas More rolled over Redfield 55-26 in the Redfield Winter Classic on Friday in Redfield.
The Cavaliers led 28-20 at the intermission before breaking the game open with a 37-13 effort in the second half. More forced the Lady Pheasants into 24 turnovers while the Cavs committed only seven. Erin Duffy added nine points for More in the win.
More missed only one free throw in the contest going 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. Redfield (0-5) got seven points from Haley Stover.
The Cavaliers 6-1 overall, and winners of three in a row, will stay in Redfield to play Milbank today.
Philip 53, Edgemont 46: Four players scored in double figures as Philip rolled to a 53-46 Western Great Plains Conference girls basketball victory over Edgemont on Friday.
Sierra Hook and Mariah Evans led the Scotties with 13 points apiece. Hook completed a double-double with 11 rebounds. Marissa Mann netted 12 and Kenzy Pinney added 11 points.
Chyla Koller and Kristie Porter paced Edgemont with 12 points each.
Colome 70, Marty Indian 29: Emily London scored a game-high 23 points as Colome defeated Marty Indian 70-29 in girls basketball action on Friday.
Morgan Hughes also hit double-figure scoring with 12 points. London also paced the Cowgirls eight rebounds.
The Cowgirls shot 41 percent from the field (26-of-64) and 54 percent from the free-throw line (18-of-33).
Brianna Bruguier led Marty Indian with seven points. Marty Indian (0-2 overall) shot 26 percent from the field (12-of-47). Emilee Graesser paced the team with eight rebounds.
Harding County 79, Dupree 14: Samantha Jensen scored a game-high 25 points and 16 rebounds as Harding County defeated Little Moreau Conference foe Dupree 79-14 in girls basketball on Friday.
Joey Painter and Devan Koch also scored in double figures for the Ranchers with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
"Our full-court pressure and defensive play set up some easy baskets in transition," Harding County head coach Josh Page said. "We executed when we needed to and it was a good team effort."
Jesika Garrett led Dupree with four points. The Tigers are 1-3 overall.
Harding County moves to 3-1 overall and will host Hettinger, N.D. on Wednesday.
Prep BOYS BASKETBALL
ST. THOMAS MORE 67, HILL CITY 46: The St. Thomas More Cavaliers hit 13 3-pointers on their way to a 67-46 Black Hills Conference boys' basketball win Friday night.
Brendan Duffy led More (5-1 overall, 2-0 BHC) with 24 points, including six 3-pointers. Brandon Bassett added 12 and Zach Cimburek 10 for the Cavaliers.
Andy Coy scored a game-high 25 points for Hill City (4-2 overall, 1-1 BHC) including an 11-for-11 effort from the free throw line. Coy was the only Ranger to reach double figures on the night.
"Hill City played very hard tonight, but we shot the ball pretty well," More head coach Dave Hollenbeck said. "Coach (Braden) Gardner definitely has that program headed in the right direction. He's doing a nice job up there."
The Cavaliers will be off until Jan. 10 when they take on Douglas in another BHC contest at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center at 7:30 p.m.
The Rangers will head down Highway 14 to take on Custer on Jan. 8 in another BHC tilt.
Philip 68, Edgemont 39: Caleb Clements scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Philip earned a 68-39 Western Great Plains Conference boys basketball victory over Edgemont on Friday.
Casey Cvach netted 13 points for the Scotties, grabbed five rebounds and made four steals. Nine players scored for Philip in the win. The Scotties shot 46 percent from the field (28-of-61).
Skye Van Fossen paced the Moguls with 14 points and Jake Thomsen added nine points.
