MAKOSICA BRACKET
Pine Ridge 77, Little Wound 75
RAPID CITY - Pine Ridge and Little Wound scored a combined 59 points in the fourth quarter as the Thorpes edged the Mustangs 77-75 in Makosica action on Friday.
The Thorpes led 13-10 after a quarter, 31-27 at halftime and 48-45 after three quarters.
Brice Hornbeck paced Little Wound with a game-high 37 points. Casey Montileaux netted 20 points.
Roman Leftwich led the Thorpes with a double-double, 25 points and 11 rebounds. Teammates Ezra Zephier and Stan Brewer scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Custer 68, Takini 24
RAPID CITY - Custer cruised to a 68-24 win over Takini in a Paha Sapa bracket game played at Goodell Gymnasium on Friday.
Caleb Parsons scored a game-high 17 for the Wildcats in the win.
Custer used a twenty-point second quarter to take a 33-14 lead at the break.
The Wildcats put 11 into the scoring column while the Skyhawks had only four score in the game.
Gideon Hayes scored 10 points to lead Takini.
Custer shot 48 percent (29-60) from the floor compared to Takini's 26 percent (11-43).
PAHA SAPA BRACKET
Heart of the Earth 74, Crazy Horse 60
RAPID CITY - In a Paha Sapa consolation game on Friday, Demetrius Martin scored 23 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as Heart of the Earth downed Crazy Horse 74-60.
The Minnesota team held a commanding 53-23 rebound advantage in the contest.
Victor Posey added 14 points and Ramon Warren 13 for the Eagles in the win.
Crazy Horse was led by Tyson Red Elk's 21 point-performance. Taylor Red Elk added 18 and Ace Amiotte had 10 for the Chiefs.
The two teams combined for 52 turnovers and 52 fouls in the game.
Flandreau Indian 73, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 62
RAPID CITY - Eleven players scored as Flandreau Indian defeated Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 73-62 in Paha Sapa action.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte led 15-13 after the first, but Flandreau Indian led at every following quarter stop, 31-29 at halftime and 48-41 after three.
Tony St. John led the victors with 19 points. Teammates Ryan Wallette and Sterling Drapeau added 12 apiece.
Charlie Marshall and John Mader led the Braves with 12 points each. Myles Frazier netted 10.
Flandreau Indian will meet Hill City in the Paha Sapa championship.
Hill City 61, Crow Creek 54
RAPID CITY - Hill City advanced to the Paha Sapa championship game with a 61-54 triumph over Crow Creek on Friday behind Hudson Koel's 23 points.
The Rangers broke out of the gate by putting up 26 first quarter points to lead 26-8.
Hill City stayed in command the rest of the way to pick up their second win of the LNI.
Andy Coy added 15 points for Hill City, who shot 53 percent from the floor.
Larry Gayton and Vilas Fallis Jr. scored 19 points apiece for the Chieftans now 1-2 in the tournament.
Crow Creek outscored Hill City 15-7 from the free throw line, however Hill City made six more field goals.
St. Francis 64, Lower Brule 63
RAPID CITY - Three players scored in double figures as St. Francis slipped past Lower Brule 64-63 in boys Paha Sapa action Friday at the LNI.
Richard Spotted Tail scored a team-high 19 points for the Warriors. Teammate Tim Little Shield finished with a double-double, 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Wil Edwards paced Lower Brule with a game-high 26 points and 13 boards.
Eltwin Grassrope netted 12 points and Trent Bad Horse added 10.
