Mitchell's Marty Barington won the 11th annual Children's Miracle Network Scratch Classic on Nov. 8-9 in Rapid City.
Barington defeated Sioux Falls' Jason Polreis in the championship match 213-199 to claim first place and the $1,000 prize.
The tournament had 59 entries from three states and raised more than $4,000 for the Children's Miracle Network.
Black Hills Nordic Ski Club to host race
The Black Hills Nordic Ski Club in Spearfish is hosting the first South Dakota State Cyclocross Championships Race at McNenny State Fish Hatchery on Saturday.
Cyclocross bicycle races are a cross between road and mountain bike racing on a closed course using trials consisting of natural obstacles and man-made barriers, which force riders to dismount their bicycles to clear the obstacles. The novice division race will be 20 minutes and the advanced division race will be approximately 50 minutes.
Registration will start at 9 a.m. at the hatchery shop and practice laps are allowed before the novice race starts at 11 a.m.
The advanced division will start immediately after the completion of the novice race. The awards ceremony and lunch will follow the advanced race at the hatchery shop.
All proceeds go to the Black Hills Nordic Ski Club to be used for grooming costs on the Big Hill Nordic Ski Trail System.

Cobbler Kids wrestling program hosts sign-up
The Cobbler Kids wrestling program is hosting sign-ups on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Rapid City Central High School commons.
The program is for boys who will be ages 6 to 14 in the year 2009. The cost to join is $50 per child with a max per family of $100. The fee includes an AAU card and a T-shirt.
Birth certificates and payment is required to register and parents need to attend the registration. Singlets will be passed out and a deposit check is required.
Voluntary practice will begin the week of Dec. 8 and mandatory practice will get started the week of Jan. 5.

BHSU runner reception set for today
There will be a reception for the Black Hills State cross country teams today in the hall of fame room in the Young Center on the BHSU campus.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams qualified for the national meet which will take place Saturday in Kenosha, Wis.
The Yellow Jacket men and women are coming off Dakota Athletic Conference titles.
