NEW UNDERWOOD - Louie Krogman fell short of the South Dakota all-time scoring record by two points, but White River still earned a 59-42 victory over New Underwood to end the regular season.

Krogman paced White River with 17 points. Matthew Bartlett added 14 points and led the team with eight rebounds.

"Defensively, we did a good job on Louie," New Underwood coach Stacy Finkbeiner said. "We ran the box-and-one, we call it the Louie defense. I give our guys credit for playing hard on the defensive end."

New Underwood's Jaron Finkbeiner led all scorers with 20 points and added 15 rebounds to his stat sheet to record a double-double.

Cole Swanson scored 10 in the loss.

"If we would have made our free throws and lay-ups, we would have had an opportunity to knock them off," Finkbeiner said.

Neither team shot well from the charity stripe. New Underwood hit 4-of-10 and White River finished 5-of-9.

"We slowed the pace down," Finkbeiner said.

"They do a lot of pressing. We slowed the ball down pretty well and we were patient."

The home team's defense showed in a 35-27 advantage in the rebounding column, but New Underwood turned the ball over 14 times compared with 10 for White River.

White River finishes the regular season 17-3 while New Underwood moves to 12-8. Both teams enter their

respective districts, 13B and 14B, as the No. 1 seed and both play their first game on Thursday.
