The final leg of the Tri State Steer Roping Series concluded in Belle Fourche at the Black

Hills Roundup on Tuesday. And when the dust settled, Cody

Lee, of Gatesville, Texas, had a sweep.

He placed at each of the three rodeos in Thermopolis, Wyo., Dickinson, N.D., and Belle Fourche. He won Belle Fourche by a wide margin, roping three steers in 37.4 seconds to outdistance runner-up Miles Williams, of Gillette, Wyo., by 10 seconds.

Lee also won the Tony Chytka steer roping bronze for winning the most money at the three events, nearly $5,000. He also recorded the fast time of the weekend in winning a round at Thermopolis in 10.2 seconds. For that he received a Star Performance hitch for his trailer.

Affiliations named for Wizards, Skyforce

The NBA Development League has announced affiliations for the upcoming season for its teams, including those in the Dakotas.

The Dakota Wizards in Bismarck, N.D., will be affiliated with Washington for a fourth straight year and Memphis for the third consecutive season.

Dakota's top rival, Sioux Falls, remains affiliated with the

Minnesota Timberwolves, for the fourth straight year. But

the Skyforce also will now be linked with Miami instead of Charlotte.

Raider freshman football camp under way

Rapid City Stevens is hosting a freshman football camp at Stevens' practice football fields from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today and Thursday.

The camp is for any freshman planning to play football at Stevens this fall. Players will learn the basics of the Raider offense and defense. The cost is $60, which includes a T-shirt and shorts.

Senior athletes qualify for national games

Ten senior Olympians from the Black Hills area will enter the National Senior Olympics on Aug. 1-15 in Palo Alto, Calif.

Stanford University will host about 12,000 athletes from ages 50 to 90-plus in five-year age brackets.

The South Dakota contingent will include Rapid City's Dick McConnell, track and table tennis; Jim Smorgawicz, swimming; Madonna Thunderhawk, track; Judy Erich, track and table tennis; Piedmont's Edith Weber, track; Hermosa's Jim Schirber, track and softball; Keystone's Phyllis Parkhurst, softball; Hot Springs' Marion Berg, racewalking; Spearfish's Jerry Hargis, racewalking; and Box Elder's Juliane Marzluff, softball.

Trojans hit past Drillers in amateur league

The Trojans registered five runs on 14 hits to better the Drillers, 5-1, in Black Hills Amateur League baseball action Tuesday.

The Trojans' Josh Nolan was 4-for-4 with an RBI. Zac Zandstra was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Joe Buehler was 2-for-4. Zac Vlietstra was the winning pitcher.

Zac Soetkmilk took the loss for the Drillers, who had one run on one hit. After a base on balls, Travis Burhans hit a double off the wall for the RBI.

The Trojans are 5-3 overall. The Drillers (5-6) will play the Valley Green A's (0-10) today. The Black Sox lead the four-team league with a 10-1 record.
