The South Dakota School of Mines men’s and women’s basketball team will host the U.S. Bank Thanksgiving Classic this weekend at the King Center in Rapid City.

Along with the Hardrockers, teams that will participate include Black Hills State, Calumet College of St. Joseph, Mount Mercy College, University of Great  Falls and Mount Marty College.

Games start at 2 p.m. today and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Free tickets can be picked up at any U.S. Bank in Rapid City.

Rush for the Arts set for Dec. 3

The Rapid City Rush Rapid City Arts Council will hold a “Rush for the Arts at the Dahl” event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dahl Arts Center on Seventh Street on Dec. 3.

“Rush for the Arts at the Dahl” is being held to raise awareness of the final week of ticket sales for the Sweet Home Dakota House Raffle.

This event is free and open to the public. Rush team members will sign autographs, the Rushettes will do three dance numbers and team mascot “Nugget” will be greeting fans.

A large number of give-aways from the Rush and the Arts Council will happen at the Rush for Arts at the Dahl celebration.

Motske to audition for MMA reality show

Ellsworth Air Force Base’s Amber Motske will be auditioning for the reality TV show “Fight Girls” in Las Vegas on Dec. 5. She has three amateur fights and is undefeated.

She is a student of Dynamic Martial Arts Muay Thai Kickboxing and MMA program. She is currently a military police officer.

Fight Girls is an Oxygen original reality television series where 10 female fighters live together and train in Las Vegas in an effort to fight for a championship in Thailand.

Rosaaen to defend middleweight title

Rapid City’s Josh Rosaaen will be defending his middleweight title against Ryan Braun at the Dakota Magic Casino in North Dakota on Dec. 19.

It is his first title defense after winning the title from UFC veteran Chad Reiner in June. Rapid City’s Jon Knutson and Clint Godfrey will also fight.
