DMU Leicester Riders guard Matt Martin, a Speafish graduate, was named to the British Basketball League's Team of the Week the league announced on Tuesday.
Martin continued his rookie season in professional basketball on Nov. 22 helping the Riders defeat the Big Cheshire Jets 104-87.
Martin proved deadly from outside the 3-point arc, sinking seven of his 12 attempts on his way to a 29-point outing.
The former Montana Grizzly is currently 12th in the BBL in scoring average at 17.6 points per game, 9th in assists with 3.7 per game.
RUSHMORE VARSITY SPLITS OVER WEEKEND: The Rushmore varsity hockey team spit a pair of games last weekend downing Gillette in the first game 7-3 before falling 4-3 in the second game.
In the first game Michael Kelly scored a pair of goals while Andrew Peter, Nathan Peter, Kyle Dunfee, Chris Jankowski and Ryan Nelson all had one. Blake Dunfee had 12 saves for Rushmore.
Gillette would rebound for the 4-3 win in the next matchup as Rushmore got goals from Nathan Peter and Devin Smith.
The Rushmore Pee Wee's lost to Huron twice 9-0 and 4-2, and the Bantam's tied Huron 1-1 and 2-2 in their two meetings.
RACERS TO HOST SWIM MEET: The Rapid City Racers will be hosting a swim meet Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 at the Rapid City Swim Center.

SDSU Jacks trade South Dakota cold for Cancun sun: South Dakota State wrapped up the domestic portion of the Cancun Challenge with losses at Virginia Commonwealth and at Drake, but added a win over Upper Iowa on Tuesday before they hit the skies for Cancun.
The Jackrabbits play their first of two games in Cancun on Saturday, when they square off against Central Florida and then play Central Arkansas on Sunday. Both The Knights and Bears enter the week with 2-1 records, but both play road games on Wednesday before making the trip to Mexico.
Saturday's game marks the fourth overall meeting with Central Florida, with the Knights holding a 2-1 series edge, while Sunday's game marks the first-ever meeting between the Jackrabbits and Bears.
