ROCKLIN, CALIF. - School of Mines made it a clean sweep at the William Jessup University volleyball tournament, winning two more matches Saturday afternoon to push its record to 9-0.
The Lady Hardrockers defeated Baker University (Kansas), 3-0, and the host school William Jessup (Rocklin), 3-1, Saturday afternoon in Rocklin, Calif.
In the first match of the day, Mines defeated the Baker Wildcats, 30-25, 30-21, 30-20. The Hardrockers racked up 40 kills 10 aces and nine blocks in the bout.
Much like Friday's contest, Rapid City native Jennie Malone had a strong showing, collecting 12 kills and made good on 23-of-25 from the attack against Baker.
Junior Ashley Kauffman also had a good outing, going 21-for-27 on the attack and collecting 10 kills for her efforts.
In the last match of the tournament, the Lady 'Rockers took it to four games with the Lady Warriors, but eventually came out on top, 30-20, 30-23, 22-30, 30-24.
Mines hammered down 37 kills in the match and made good on 88-of-121 attacks.
