Eagles' Peterson earns preseason golf honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Chadron State College's Alissa Peterson, a sophomore from Lusk, Wyo., has been named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Golf Team, as announced by the conference on Thursday.

Peterson, who averaged rounds of 89 last season and was named CSC's incoming player of the year, is joined on the first team by Western New Mexico's Carissa Schwalm, who is the Preseason Player of the Year, Adams State's Jenny Ives, Nebraska-Kearney's Megan Marshall and Colorado State University-Pueblo's Jordan Dew.

Chadron State, which finished fifth in the RMAC standings a season ago, was tabbed seventh in the 2008-09 poll. Western New Mexico is picked to finish first and Mesa State is second. Rounding out the RMAC preseason poll is Fort Hays State, Nebraska-Kearney, Adams State, Regis, CSU-Pueblo, Montana State Billings and Colorado Christian.

The women's golf team begins its season on Sept. 14-16 at the Scotts Bluff Country Club.
