Gunderson leads at Days of '76 rodeo

DEADWOOD - Agar's Joe Gunderson is leading the bareback competition after the first day of the PRCA Days of '76 rodeo Thursday.

Gunderson had a ride worth 84 points. Rapid City's Scott Montague is in second after an 82.

Rorey Maier of Timber Lake is leading the pack in bull riding after a 77-point ride.

Oelrichs' Lisa Lockhart had a solid night in the barrel racing. Her time of :16.4 was just quick enough to hold the top spot.

Creighton's Jake Nelson teamed with Brady Williams on Hammond, Mont., to take the team roping lead. They have an average of :11.6 on two.

In the saddle bronc, Corona, N.M., cowboy Taos Muncy had an impressive ride worth 87 points to grab the early lead.

Stran Smith of Childress, Texas, is leading the tie-down roping average with a time of 17.2 seconds on two.

Craig, Colo., cowboy Casey McMillen is on top in the steer wrestling average. He has a time of :8.2 on two.
