Milbank rebounded from a first-round loss on Thursday to sweep Sisseton 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 in Friday's Consolation Semifinals at the state Class A girls volleyball tournament.

The Bulldogs, behind Megan Nedved's 14 kills, 10 digs and three ace serves, downed Sisseton for the third time this season. Leah Anderson had 11 kills and four blocks for Milbank.

"Yesterday we played a very tough Miller team. They were brutal on defense. We couldn't put the ball away. We haven't seen blockers like that all year, and that frustrated our hitters. They quit going after it and we didn't have anything left, said Milbank coach Nancy Hoeke.

"We faced a completely different team in Sisseton with their single-block (defense). Yesterday we missed 13 serves and today we didn't miss that many. You always have a better chance to score points when you get the serves in," Hoeke said.

Kelsey Grimsrud had eight kills and four blocks to lead Sisseton. Kimberly Arbach had 16 digs, and Kimberly Skubic had 13 assist for the Redmen.

Milbank, 22-6, meets Winner for the consolation championship at 9 a.m. Saturday. Sisseton, 23-9, played St. Thomas More played for Seventh place at 4 p.m. Friday.
