Girls basketball: Krogman leads Jones County into district semifinals

WHITE RIVER - Mariah Krogman tallied a double-double as Jones County devastated Crazy Horse 100-18 in the first round of District 13B action.

Shelby Peters led all scorers with 17 points for Jones County. Mariah Krogman netted 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Also in double figures for the Coyotes were: Sophie Iversen (12 points), Alyssa Krogman (12), and Trait Thorne (11).

The Coyotes sunk 53 percent of their shots from the field. The victors also held a 37-20 advantage in the rebound column.

Hannah Red Willow paced Crazy Horse with 12 points. Crazy Horse finishes the season 2-14.

Jones County, 3-18, advances in District 13B play to face Kadoka Area tonight at 5:30 p.m. MST.

Philip and White River will tip off in the second game at 7 p.m.

DISTRICT 12B

WAGNER - Colome earned a 31-24 victory over South Central and Avon defeated Tripp-Delmont-Armour 41-21 in the semifinal round of District 12B on Monday.

Collene Cahoy was the only player in double figures with 16 points as Colome defeated South Central 31-24 in District 12B action.

The Cowgirls led 20-14 at halftime and gave up only four points in the third to lead 26-18.

Kela Cihak paced Avon with 10 points in the Lady Pirates 20-point win. Avon shot 40 percent from the field, while the Nighthawks made 16 percent of their shots.

South Central finishes 10-11 overall. Tripp-Delmont-Armour concludes an 8-13 season.

Colome, 15-6 overall, will meet Avon, 17-4, for the first time this season in the district title game on Friday.

DISTRICT 15B

Campbell Co. 48, Selby Area 31

MOBRIDGE - Natalie VanBeek scored a game-high 12 points as Campbell County defeated Selby Area 48-31 to advance to the second round of District 15B action.

Ashley Schlomer paced the Lady Lions with nine points. Selby finishes 5-17.

Campbell County, 12-8, takes on Wakpala in the second round of district play on Thursday.

Grand River 59, Tiospaye Topa 38

MOBRIDGE - Hailey Vanlishout and Keri Baumberger scored 14 points apiece as Grand River defeated Tiospaye Topa 59-38 in first round action at the District 15B tournament.

Vanlishout drained four 3s en route to team scoring honors while Baumberger netted seven 2-pointers.

Jo Miner scored a game-high 17 points for Tiospaye Topa. The Thunderhawks finish the season 8-13. Grand River, 10-12, will play Timber Lake on Thursday in the semifinals.

Lemmon 57, Dupree 35

FAITH - In opening round action on Monday night in District 16B, Faith defeated Bison 59-23 and Lemmon downed Dupree 57-35.

Brianna Lemmel scored a game-high 21 points for the Lady Longhorns in Faith's win over the Cardinals.

Faith (9-12) got off to an 18-0 start in the game as the Cardinals did not get on the scoreboard until the second quarter.

Emily Chapman led Bison (3-18) with eight points.

Lemmon (9-11) got 12 points from Chelsey Hanes and 10 points from Halie Dalzell in the Cowgirls win over the Tigers.

Jesika Garrett scored 17 for Dupree (1-20).

In semifinal games tonight Faith will tangle with No. 1 seed Harding County (16-3) while Lemmon takes on No. 2 seed Takini (13-7).

Sundance, Wyo., 46, Moorcroft, Wyo., 26

SUNDANCE, Wyo. - Sidney Materi scored a game-high 19 points and Kylie Hughes added 11 as Sundance defeated Moorcroft 46-26 in the first round of the 2A East Region tournament.

The home team led at every quarter stop, 10-8 after one, 22-14 at the half and 28-23 after three quarters. Sundance outscored Moorcroft 18-3 in the final quarter.

Ashlee Bietz led Moorcroft with nine points.

Sundance advances to play Burns on Thursday.
