WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, have released an additional 100 tickets to the 2009 CHL All-Star Game. The game - featuring the Colorado Eagles versus a team of CHL All-Stars - will be played at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo., on Jan. 14.
"The Eagles and the CHL are very happy to offer additional tickets to the great fans of Northern Colorado and across the CHL," said CHL commissioner Duane Lewis. "The tickets for the game are at such a premium and the Budweiser Events Center will truly be the place to be on Jan. 14th."
All-star game tickets may be purchased at www.ComcastTix.com, 1-877-544-TIXX (8499) or through any ComcastTix outlet.
In addition, only about 100 tickets to the all-star banquet - held on the eve of the all-star game at the Fort Collins, Colo., Marriott - still remain. The banquet will include a chance to meet and mingle with the Colorado Eagles, the CHL all-star team and other league personnel, a plated dinner, live comedic entertainment, a silent auction with incredible hockey items and more. Hoops league signups extended
SPEARFISH - Men's, women's and co-ed basketball play begins in January at the Spearfish Recreation Center.
Signups are being extended through Jan. 18. Games for the three leagues - 3-on-3 women's, 3-on-3 men's, and 5-on-5 co-ed - begin Jan. 20 and run through mid-March.
Registration sheets are available for pickup at the Spearfish Recreation Center, 122 Recreation Lane, or forms can be emailed or faxed.

Mines drops tourney opener in California
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Holy Names University Lady Hawks used a 28-4 second-half run to turn a big deficit into a comfortable lead and never looked back, beating South Dakota School of Mines, 80-74, in the opening game of the Menlo College Peninsula Classic on Monday in Oakland, Calif.
Holy Names trailed 50-41 at halftime and things only got worse when the second half began. The Hardrockers increased their edge to 59-43 before the Hawks' huge run turned the tide. Holy Names scored 15 straight to start the run and were ahead 71-63 with just over six minutes to play when the spurt ended.
Raquel Hyche led Holy Names with 17 points while Larisa Nakasone added 13. Jamie-Leigh Ronolo and Valyncia Hartfield chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively. Liz Widgren had seven points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Hawks.
Bethany Holyoak scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace the Lady Hardrockers. Sophomore Jerika Ihnen added 16 points, eight rebounds while Ariel Granillo had 10 points.
USD standout earns league honors
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Jesse Becker, a senior guard on the University of South Dakota men's basketball team, has been named the Great West Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 28, the league announced on Tuesday.
Becker, from Plymouth, Minn., is the first USD men's basketball player to earn the weekly honor from the Great West Conference.
Becker earned the weekly honors after leading the Coyotes to a perfect 2-0 record last week while helping USD collect their first win as a Division I program over a Division I foe. Becker averaged 25.5 points per game to increase his scoring average for the year from 13.2 to 15.3.
The senior tallied 24 points, including converting a game-winning three-point play with seven seconds left to lift USD to a 73-69 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Dec. 22.
