Bennett County 24, Mobridge 7: Bennett County stayed unbeaten and more importantly the Warriors moved one game closer to the Dakota Dome as they defeated Mobridge 24-7 on Monday night in a Class 11B quarterfinal game.

The Warriors are now 10-0 overall, on the year and will host a semifinal game on Saturday against Groton Area, a 7-0 winner over Aberdeen Roncalli.

"We are excited to be one of the four last remaining Class 11B teams left playing," said Bennett County head coach Jeff Krolikowski.

"It hasn't been a walk thru by any means. We beat some pretty good teams in Stanley County and Mobridge. It's a fun time of year."

Bennett County scored twice in the first quarter to set the tone.

Clint Sasse scored on a 2-yard run and Austin Haynes connected with Trin In the Woods for a 70-yard score as the Warriors got off to a good start.

The only scoring in the second quarter came via the foot of Joao Paulo Castanheira as he booted a 22-yard field goal as Bennett County led 17-0.

"We jumped out to a lead which was really nice," said Krolikowski. "Mobridge dared us to pass and we took what they gave us."

The Tigers scored their only touchdown in the third quarter as Mobridge quarterback Dexter Netterville connected with Peyton Friesz on a 23-yard scoring play. Sasse then salted the win when he raced 26 yards with an interception in the fourth quarter to preserve the Warrior win.

"Our defense has stepped for us up week after week. All the credit goes to the young men who go out there every week," said Krolikowski.

Sasse rushed for 187 yards on 24 carries while Haynes passed for 157 yards on seven completions for the winners.

Wagner was led by Wagner's 92 yards rushing. Netterville had 103 passing, but he was picked off three times in the loss.
