BELLE FOURCHE - Hot Springs needed all five games to down Belle Fourche in a Black Hills Conference volleyball match on Thursday 25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 23-25, 15-10.
The Bison swept out to a two game lead before the hosts battled back to tie the match at two games apiece.
Hot Springs then found their rhythm to gain the win in the decisive fifth game.
"Both teams left it out on the floor tonight," said Belle Fourche head coach Cathy Grubb.
The Bison were led by their stalwart, 6-foot senior Kara Powell, who blasted home 21 winners and was credited with 15 blocks in the match. Powell showed off on the service line as well, she didn't make an error in 17 serves.
"She (Powell) is really a force at the net," Grubb said.
Randi Weiss dug out 22 balls, Chelsey Hughes added 10 kills and Amy Tierney went 26-of-26 serving with 12 digs for Hot Springs.
"We fought to bet back in the match and had our chances in the fifth game, it just wasn't meant to be," said Grubb.
The Broncs Lauren Stephens had a nice all around game with 19 kills, 43 digs and a block.
Samantha Doolittle added eight blocks and Jordan Schneider contributed 44 digs for Belle.
Belle Fourche (12-6 overall and 5-2 BHC) will travel to play Douglas in Box Elder and Hot Springs (17-4 and 5-1) will host Custer in Tuesday BHC matches.
Gettysburg 3, Campbell County 0
GETTYSBURG - Gettysburg evened its season record with a three game win over Campbell County on Thursday night. The Battler's prevailed 25-13, 25-11, 25-21 to improve to 6-6 on the season.
Gettysburg tallied 32 kills in the match as Kirsten Cronin had nine and Calley Worth eight for the winners.
Jada Hawkinson contributed 31 assists for the Battlers, while Chelsey Poeppel had five service aces.
Campbell County fell to 10-7 with the loss.
Gettysburg will participate in the Yellow Trail Conference Tournament in Bowdle on Saturday.
McIntosh-Isabel 3, Timber Lake 0
TIMBER LAKE - McIntosh-Isabel topped Timber Lake 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 in a District 14 volleyball match on Thursday night.
The Tigers (9-9) were led by Kasidee Traversie's seven kills and three aces.
McIntosh-Isabel totaled 23 kills in the contest as Jaelyn Richter and Kali Nash had five apiece.
Becky Maher dolled out 10 assists and had three service aces for the winners.
McIntosh (6-8) was led by Erin Loeb's three kills, two aces and one block. LaNay Jung was in on eight assists for the Tigers.
McIntosh-Isabel will host Eureka-Bowdle and Timber Lake will battle Lemmon in matches on Tuesday.
