Rodeo: Suhn, Solomon lock up Days of '76 events

Todd Suhn, of North Platte, Neb., and Cory Solomon of Prairie View, Texas, were timed-event winners during Wednesday's competition at the Days of '76 Rodeo in Deadwood.

Suhn clocked a 3.4 second run to claim the top spot in steer wrestling. Fellow Cornhusker State competitor Brady Hageman of McCook timed second at 3.7 seconds, with Tyler L. Haugen, of Sturgis, a tick of the stopwatch back in third at 3.8.

Nick Guy, of Sturgis, wound up tied for sixth with Tom Hansen, of Dunn Center, N.D., with a 4.0. Kody Woodward, of Dupree, tied for eighth at 4.2 with Ryan Dale Hanna, of Kildeer, N.D.

Solomon led a Texas sweep of the top four spots in the tie-down roping finals with an 8.6 timing.

Cade Swor, of Chico, Texas, tied with Randall Carlisle, of Lipan, Texas, at 8.7, and John C. Brian of Weatherford , Texas, (8.8) rounded out the top four.

Michael McPherson of Piedmont was the lone South Dakota cowboy in the standings, clocking a 9.0 for fifth in the final tally.

Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith lead the team roping standings after the first round with a 4.3.

The rodeo continues today at the Days of '76 rodeo grounds in Deadwood.
