RAPID CITY - Rapid City Post 22 split a pair of baseball games with Denver Play Ball in a doubleheader at Fitzgerald Stadium on Friday night.

The visitors got the best of Post 22 in the first game as they pulled out an 11-5 win. The home team dug down in the second game as Parker Sullivan singled in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Post 22 prevailed 5-4.

The second-game win snapped a six-game losing streak for Post 22.

"That is one of the better teams they have assembled," said Post 22 head coach Dave Ploof. "They have a very veteran team with a lot of college-level players competing."

The two teams traded the lead back and forth in the final game as Post 22 rallied from a 4-2 deficit.

John Jarding went seven strong innings for Post 22. Kyle Singer gained the win with a scoreless eighth frame.

"We went against their best pitcher in the second game," said Ploof. "He was hitting 86 or 88 miles per hour consistently with his fastball and he had a very good breaking ball as well. It was a good win for us."

Post 22 (17-17 overall) will be off until Monday when it takes on Las Vegas in a pre-Firecracker Tournament matchup at 7:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald Stadium in Rapid City.

The Firecracker Tournament will then begin on Tuesday and run through Sunday.
