Rapid City Post 22 finished its trip to the Gopher Classic with a winning record after notching a pair of wins Sunday afternoon.

Post 22 defeated Detroit Lakes, Minn., 22-3 in five innings, then downed Alexandria, Minn., 5-1 at Veterans Field in Minnetonka.

The Hardhats took control of the Detroit Lakes game immediately, scoring 16 runs in the top of the first inning, winning in five innings thanks to the mercy rule.

Jordan Carlson led the Post 22 attack, going 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs.

Parker Sullivan went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs, and Donte Bledsoe, Kolton Emery, Dana Hill and Kyle Gorsuch all added two hits.

Jon Hass threw all five, scattering six hits while permitting two earned runs. He struck out three in the winning effort.

Against Alexandria, Post 22 was in a scoreless battle until the fourth, when Sullivan drew a leadoff walk. Hill doubled him home, and Carlson doubled in Hill to put the Hardhats ahead.

Alexandria cut the margin in half in the bottom of the inning, but Kolton Emery's solo home run in the fifth put Post 22 back up by two.

In the seventh, a pair of bunts led to two Hardhat runs. Emery hit a sacrifice fly to score one, and Hill hit a groundball to short that plated the other.

Jarrett Jensen tossed a seven-hitter, striking out five without a walk. He is now 3-1 on the season.
