RAPID CITY - Rapid City Post 22, behind Sam Wolff's dominating pitching performance, picked up a 7-1 win over Prior Lake, Minn., in the opening game of the Dr. James "Pev" Evans Tournament at Fitzgerald Stadium on Wednesday night.
"Sam came out and took control," said Post 22 head coach Dave Ploof. "He threw the ball well and had some pop tonight."
Wolff fanned 10 batters in his seven innings of work, picking up his fifth win of the year. He allowed a single in the third and another one in the fifth, while walking three batters.
Wolff would get plenty of offense support once the Post 22 batters figured out Prior Lake starter Pat McDonald as they would tally 14 base hits on the night.
Jarrett Jensen lined a two-run single in the home half of the third inning to stake Post 22 to a 2-0 lead as Dana Hill and Brock Estes both touched the plate.

Rapid City would go on to add a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 6-0 lead.
Kolton Emery and Jordan Mette both singled in the fourth and scored while Jensen had another RBI in the fifth to plate Brock Estes, who had roped a double to the left center field fence.
"Half the guys really were hitting the ball real hard for us," said Ploof.
Mette and Jensen had three hits with Dana Hill, Estes and Emery adding two apiece for the winners.
Prior Lake scored its only run in the sixth on a walk and an error.
Post 22 (22-23 overall) added its final fun in the sixth as they would rack up five hits. Wolff then shut the door in the seventh inning by fanning two of the three Prior Lake batters to close out the game.
"We hope to build on this for the final couple weeks of the season," said Ploof.
