RAPID CITY - The Wall Eagles overcame a stubborn Rapid City Christian squad on Thursday, posting a 25-18,

25-16, 25-16 win over the Lady Comets in prep girls volleyball at National American University in Rapid City.

The win keeps Wall undefeated on the season at 2-0.

The first and second games were both nip and tuck early on, however the turning point came in the second set as the Eagles' Tiana Kjerstad rallied off four consecutive serves late, putting enough distance between Wall and the Lady Comets to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Wall never looked back, cruising to a 25-16 win in the final set.

"I'm proud of this young team and they are coming together well this young season," Wall head coach Stephanie Williams said. "I'm hoping that the team peaks at district tournament time."

Madison McLaughlin led the Eagles in serves with five aces and six kills. Kjerstad led the team with 13 assists.

Despite the loss, Christian head coach Juliana Tomek said she remains optimistic about her team in 2008.

"Wall is always one of the top teams," Tomek said. "The girls are young and coachable, which is encouraging this early in the season."

The Lady Comets were led by Valerie Graumann with seven kills.

Wall travels to the Clark Tournament this weekend near Watertown. The Lady Comets return to action on Saturday hosting Bison.
