Hill City scored in every quarter and held on to defeat Upton, Wyo. 28-20 in a nonconference football game on Friday night in Hill City.
The Rangers Chance Clayson scored three times and rushed for 113 yards in the win.
"We had three other touchdowns called back to due penalties," said Hill City head coach Chad Ronish.
The Bobcats scored the games first touchdown and then tied the game at 14 early in the third quarter.
Clayson broke the tie with a 20-yard run and the Rangers tacked on a two-point conversion to take a 22-14 lead.
Upton scored again in the third quarter to pull the visitors to within 22-20, but Clayson banged into the end zone from three yards out in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
"We were able to run the ball outside on them, but they were able to run inside on us," said Ronish.
Colton McLaughlin, the Ranger senior quarterback, helped keep the Bobcats off balance with 141 yards passing on eight completions.
Hill City outgained Upton 353-251 in total yards for the game. Hill City (2-5 overall) will close out the regular season by hosting Custer on Thursday.
SIOUX FALLS LINCOLN 56, RAPID CITY STEVENS 7: Ryan Hander threw for 406 yards and five touchdowns as fourth-ranked Lincoln crushed Rapid City Stevens, 56-7, on Friday night in Greater Dakota Conference football at Howard Wood Field.
Hander, a senior, completed 15-of-22 passes in three quarters of work as the Patriots (7-1 overall) tuned up for Thursday's showdown at No. 2 O'Gorman.
Stevens was limited to just 194 yards of total offense in the loss. Cameron Halverson led the rushing effort with 9 carries for 48 yards.
Stevens faces crosstown rival Central on Thursday to close out the regular season.
SIOUX FALLS WASHINGTON 68, SPEARFISH 0: Based on the gaudy final score, it's clear that Sioux Falls Washington was clicking on all cylinders against Spearfish on Friday night.
The Warriors handed the Spartans a 68-0 spanking at Howard Wood Field in a Greater Dakota Conference football game in Sioux Falls.
Spearfish (2-6 overall, 1-5 GDC) played without star running back Jordan Johnson, still nursing a hip injury.
That was bad news for the Spartans, who allowed 513 total yards and were outgained 339-2 on the ground by the Warriors.
Spearfish travels to Sturgis on Thursday for the regular season finale for both teams.
KADOKA AREA 40, EDGEMONT 22: Kadoka used a quick-strike offense to get past Edgemont, 40-22, on Friday.
The Kougars scored on plays of 65, 59, 24 and 13 yards to help offset a 447 yard rushing night by Edgemont. A pair of fumbles and one turnover on downs by Edgmont inside the 20-yard line kept the Moguls from putting more points on the board.
Kadoka struck for the lone score in the first quarter as Chris Byrd raced 59 yards for a touchdown. Carl Ireland added another touchdown run in the second quarter runnign 65 yards for the score before Michael Herber hauled in a 65-yard pass from Byrd to make the score 24-6 at halftime.
Ireland finished with 123 yards on nine carries.
JONES COUNTY 22, DUPREE 15: Jones County held on to down Dupree 22-15 in Murdo on Friday night as the Coyotes picked up their second win of the year.
Dupree scored first as Colby Keegan scored on a 3-yard run. Jones County then grabbed the lead in the second quarter as Tyler Buxcel hit John Drayer for a 5-yard score. The Coyotes added a two-point conversion to lead 8-7.
Jones County then scored twice in the third quarter as Buxcel hit Andrew Bork on a 38-yard pass play and Scott Nix broke off a 26-yard run as the Coyotes led 22-7.
Jade Bartel came up with two big interceptions for Jones County in the win.
Jones County (2-5) will play in New Underwood and Dupree (4-3) will travel to Kadoka on Thursday to close out the regular season.
WINNER 40, MILLER AREA 0: Braden Gardner ran in three touchdowns as Winner blanked Miller Area 40-0 in Friday night football action.
John Farner rushed 55 yards for the Warriors' first touchdown in the second quarter. Winner ground down Miller with 321 rushing yards opposed to 23.
Farner, who tallied 70 yards through the air and 89 yards on the ground, threw touchdown passes to Grant Galbraith and Zach Horstman. Galbraith kicked six extra points for the Warriors.
Jayd Knodell caught Ted Wonnenberg's only pass of the game for a TD in the third.
J.D. Farley ran in the winning tally for the Warriors in the fourth.
Winner (6-1 overall) concludes the regular season with Stanley County on Thursday.
GETTYSBURG 32, SELBY AREA 0: Jared Schrempp scored four touchdowns and rushed for 165 yards as Gettysburg defeated Selby Area 32-0 in football action on Friday.
Blaine Schmidt ran in the Battlers' final score in the fourth quarter.
Jeff Devine led the Battlers with 96 passing yards. Josh Schmidt caught a pass to complete a two-point conversion.
Gettysburg (5-2) travels to McLaughlin on Thursday to finish the regular season.
LEMMON-McINTOSH 53, McLAUGHLIN 0: Lemmon-McIntosh rolled to a 53-0 win over McLaughlin in Lemmon as the Cowboys out-rushed the Midgets 257 to a minus 29 yards.
Five different Cowboys rushed for scores and the Lemmon-McIntosh defense helped out with a punt return and two interception returns for scores.
The Cowboys led 40-0 at the intermission.
Lemmon-McIntosh (2-5) will take on Harding County in Buffalo and McLaughlin (0-7) will host Gettysburg in a pair of Thursday night games to close out the regular season for both schools.
PHILIP 16, WALL 12: Philip scored a 16-12 win over Wall in a Western Great Plains Conference football game in Philip on Friday.
The Scotties closed out their regular season with a 5-3 overall mark and a 4-2 record in the conference.
Wall (2-5 and 1-4) will host White River in a regular season finale for both teams on Thursday night.
No other information was available.
WHITE RIVER 68, LOWER BRULE 14: R.J. Estes threw four touchdown passes as White River defeated Lower Brule 68-14 in a Friday night football game.
Estes, who tallied 148 yards through the air, connected with Matt Glynn and Carson Krogman for two touchdown catches apiece.
Krogman also scored two rushing touchdowns as the White River junior ran for 149 yards on the night.
Jimmy Plooster led the team on the ground with 157 yards including a touchdown. White River recorded 380 yards on the ground.
Ty Dimond paced the defense with 14 tackles and two sacks. Clay Hutchinson had 14 tackles and an interception.
White River (5-2 overall) travels to Wall on Thursday. Lower Brule (0-7) concludes the season with Lyman.
