Rocky Mountain College avenged an earlier loss to Black Hills State with a 63-37 triumph over the Yellow Jackets on Thursday night in Billings, Mont., at the Fortin Center in opening game of the Rocky Mountain Classic.

The Lady Jackets were coming off a 69-60 win over Rocky Mountain in Spearfish on Saturday.

That was not the case in this contest as Black Hills had trouble getting out of the gates as the visitors trailed 42-23 at the intermission.

The Jackets then could only muster 14 points in the final 20 minutes.

For the game, BHSU shot an ice-cold 22.9 percent (11-of-48) from the floor including a 2-of-17 effort from beyond the

3-point line.

The Bears were not much better from the floor as they made only 18-of-56 attempts, but they canned 11 3-pointers along the way.

Rocky Mountain now 2-5 on the year, was led by Tana Stewart who scored 17 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, had four steals and added three blocks.

Janie Rayback added 10 in the win.

The only double digit scorer for Black Hills was Katelynn Lamb who netted 12 points.

BHSU (5-2) will play Carroll College tonight as the Classic continues through Saturday.
