Nate Hand in the Classy Trio league at Meadowood Lanes has thrown two perfect games in two weeks.
The second launched him well on his way to an 800 series with games of 247, 300, 258 for an 805 series. He followed that series with a 278 game - this league has a four game series each night.
These three achievements have added to Nate's already impressive resume of awards. In looking over his achievements on bowl.com, it appears that Nate, during the last couple of years, only throws 300 games. He has several to his credit, plus some 299s in previous years. He does not have a 298. However, that is not necessarily on his agenda.
Nate still has his sights on the PBA tour. He says since becoming an adult, his proudest moment was leading a PBA tournament for six games this year. This is quite an achievement considering the competition at the regional tournaments in which he bowls.
He said he acquired valuable information during that tournament. He discovered that the old adage of "anyone can beat anyone on any given day" was true. He has learned from these tournament experiences and has matured mentally in the past five years, making him a better bowler.
His advice to bowlers is to not change balls too quickly when you are struggling during your bowling. He feels that there are many adjustments that can be made before a ball change is warranted.
- The youth bowlers recently had their scholarship tournament at Robbinsdale Lanes.
This tournament is for youth, and money donated from area businesses - plus the entry money - provides scholarship money for the top five bowlers. There is a scratch as well as a handicap division. After six games of bowling, the top five bowlers in each division roll a stair-step format to get to the top. The results and the amount of scholarship money is as follows:
In the handicap division, first place went to Zach Connor, $375; second place, Scott Klopfenstein, $275; third place, Chris Groves, $225; fourth place, Patrik Bailie $125; and fifth place, Tyler Cummins, $100.
In the scratch division, first place went to Tyler Engel, $350; second place, Drew Badger (Lead-Deadwood), $250; third place, Thane Lees, $200; fourth place, Justin Olson, $100; and fifth place, Ashley Brown, $75.
The youth would like to express their gratitude to the following persons and businesses that contributed money to this tournament: TTG Enterprises, Scheels, Meadowood Lanes, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Dale, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Fuhrmann, Diversified Auto, K&K Sheet Metal, Kahler Property Management, Bob's Auto Service, Vanway Trophy, B & H Asphalt, Robbinsdale Lanes, TREA, and RCS Construction.
