GREELEY, Colo. - Different year, same result.

For the second-straight season, the Chadron State football team posted an impressive road win over a Div. I FCS opponent, this time shutting out Northern Colorado, 31-0 at Nottingham Field on Saturday.

With the win, the fifth-ranked Eagles posted their 16th consecutive regular season victory to tie the school record. The win is also the 450th in the program's history. But to coach Bill O'Boyle, beating a Division I team didn't feel any differently than any other win.

"It should feel different, but it doesn't," said O'Boyle, who improved his coaching record to 19-7.

"It's a big win and it's always nice to win on the road, but I think it really shows that there are some good Division II football teams and they can play with bigger schools."

Saturday's game was never in question as the Eagles, sparked by Danny Woodhead's 280 total yards and three touchdowns, jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

Woodhead, who rushed for 147 yards on 23 carries and caught five balls for 133 more, scored the first points of the game with his 2-yard touchdown with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. He also scored on a 21-yard reception from quarterback Joe McLain four minutes later.

For the game, the Eagles gained 479 yards of total offense and made 23 first downs. The Eagles were also 7-of-14 on converting third downs and dominated the time of possession with more than 36 minutes, while limiting the Bears to 23:50.

Defensively, Austin Bailey and Craig Kaiser were Chadron State's leading tacklers with five apiece. Kaiser also had an interception.

As a team, the Eagles' defense limited Northern Colorado to 11 first downs and just 214 total yards in the shutout, which came as a surprise to Bailey.
