JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The Hansen Center has been a house of horrors for the Black Hills State volleyball team.

But the Yellow Jackets will have fond memories of Saturday's visit.

Kristin Engle and Maggie O'Neill had back-to-back kills to finish off a wild Dakota Athletic Conference tournament championship match, and the Yellow Jackets clinched a berth in the NAIA national tournament with their first-ever win in Jamestown.

The Yellow Jackets started quickly, quieting the loud, capacity crowd by taking the opening two sets. But Jamestown College battled back to win the next two, and a back-and-forth fifth set saw Black Hills fight off two match points before sealing a 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 18-16 victory.

"It just goes to show you how even these two teams are," Yellow Jackets coach Jhett Albers said. "It was 3-1 at our place, 3-1 at their place, a fifth set that could have gone either way tonight. Sometimes you wonder if it's a little luck here and there. You never know how the ball is going to bounce. We were able to come out on top."

"A couple bounces …. Maybe just one bounce," Jimmies coach Chris Mahoney said. "It came down to the last play. Unfortunately, it didn't go our way."

The DAC co-champions staged a wild tournament final filled with big blocks, big swings and big momentum swings.

"We're so evenly matched," Engle said. "It feels great. I'm proud of my team. They did everything tonight.

"We wanted this so bad. It's so hard to win up here. It feels good to get one."
