Linda Anderson, executive director of the Rapid City Arts Council at the Dahl, recently announced the fifth annual Dahl Women's Golf Tournament, in support of Rapid City Arts Council programs and scholarships, will be Aug. 17 at the Arrowhead Golf Course. Women golfers of all skill levels are invited to come out and play in this tournament. Women who do not have a team of four and wish to play, can call the Dahl Arts Center to get placed on a team.
The number of women participating in the annual tournament continues to grow, increasing the amount of money raised for the arts. Through the efforts of co-chairs Rosie Derby and Kathy Cline, the Dahl tournament reached the 2008 fundraising goal of $10,000 with 20 teams of women golfers.
"It is never easy raising money in a recession, but the women have signed up their teams and committed to sponsorships earlier this year than in the past," Anderson said. "Our golfers look forward to playing a tournament with other women and enjoy raising money for a great cause."
This event is the only full-charity golf tournament exclusively for women in South Dakota. The tournament includes three flights with cash prizes for the first-, second- and third-place teams. The tournament offers a putting competition with the possibility of winning a golf vacation in Hawaii, along with pin prizes of art, jewelry, concert tickets and more.
Major sponsorship for the Dahl Women's Golf Tournament is provided by Sun Surety Insurance Company. For more information or to register for the tournament, call the Dahl Arts Center at 605-394-4101 ext. 200.
