WINNER - Belle Fourche quarterback Alex Kling put on a show and propelled his team to a 12-0 win over Winner in a season opening football game for both schools.
Kling the Bronc's senior signal caller, threw scoring tosses of 13 and 25 yards in the third quarter to break the scoreless tie between the two perennial playoff teams.
Francois Barnaud hauled in the first scoring pass and Brady Bisgaard grabbed Kling's second toss as Belle scored all the points they would need in the third quarter.
"He (Kling) is a tremendous football player," said Winner head coach Dan Aaker. "He made big plays all game long, I can't say enough about him."
Kling passed for 220 yards and added 65 yards on the ground to pace the Belle Fourche offense.
The Bronc defense held the Warriors to 135 yards of total offense including 19 yards passing.
Braden Gardener carried the ball nine times for 60 yards for Winner.
"We did a good job on defense on Kling he just came up with some big plays when they needed them."
"We need to learn from this game and move on."
Belle Fourche will travel to play Hot Springs in a Black Hills Conference game and Winner will visit Mobridge on Friday.
