RAPID CITY - Brogan Pappel and Mac Young led Rapid City Stevens to a golf dual win over Hot Springs at the Fountain Springs Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Raiders shot 153 as a team compared to the Bison's 177.

Pappel and Young each fired 35s to capture low round of the day honors.

Andrew Tarrell led Hot Springs with a 39 with P.J. Wetzel adding a 41 for the Bison.

Lance Beyer also broke 40 for the Raiders with a 39 and Josh Pappel and Casey Ommen shot 44s for Stevens.

"One of the things we had the kids do was to use only their irons," said Stevens head coach Phil Hunt. "This is a little shorter course and it demands accuracy."

The Raiders will be on the road playing in the Yankton Invite on Friday then the Brookings Invite on Saturday.

"Those are two pretty big tournaments," said Hunt. "Most everybody will be playing in Yankton, including teams from Sioux City, Iowa. It will be a fun weekend."

SPEARFISH DOWNS LEAD-DEADWOOD: Ben Deverman's 39 was good for medalist honors at Tuesday's high school boys golf dual between Spearfish and Lead-Deadwood at Spearfish Canyon Country Club.

Deverman led Spearfish to the team win as the Spartans finished six strokes ahead of Lead-Deadwood 170-176.

Zach Fox and Jordan Smith each fired a 42 to pace Lead-Deadwood.

"It was just nice to see us have a nice score at our home course," said Spearfish coach Eric Ligtenberg. "We've been kind of struggling. It was also nice for us to have some nice scores back-to-back. We had a good score at Meadowbrook in Rapid City last week."

Spearfish has the week off to prepare for the Spearfish Invitational next Tuesday, also at Spearfish Canyon Country Club.
