DEADWOOD - The Days of '76 Rodeo closed Sunday
without much changing atop the standings, which was just fine for
Quinn's J.J. Elshere.
Elshere's ride of 90 on "Crazy Train" Saturday
won him the saddle bronc title over Gillette's Chet Johnson.
Elshere pocketed just over $3,500 for the win.
Every contestant that led after Saturday's go
at the rodeo won their events as nobody could manage to overtake a
leader Sunday.
Chris Harris, of Itasca, Texas, edged past
John Addison on Friday, and won the bareback competition with an
86. Harris earned a little over $3,200 for the
victory.
Nick Price, of Russellville, Ark., stayed in
first place in the bull riding with his 88. Josh K. Johnson moved
into second and the money on Saturday with a ride of
84.
Oelrichs' Lisa Lockhart won the barrel racing
with a time of 16.74 ahead of Canadian Lindsay Sears. Sears managed
a 16.75 on her run to narrowly lose to Lockhart, who won
$2,933.60.
Doug Pharr, of Victoria, Texas, won the
tie-down roping event with a mark of 8.6 seconds, while Cimarron
Boardman won the aggregate in 18.5 just ahead of fellow Texan Scott
Kormos at 18.7.
Arizona's Derrick Begay and Victor Aros
remained alone in first place in the team roping with 4.3-second
effort. Texans Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith took the aggregate
title with a time of 11.0 seconds on two.
Cash Myers from Athens, Texas, was the only
winner in both the go-round and the average. His 3.5-second mark
put him first in the steer wrestling and his 7.7 mark on two is
one-tenth of a second ahead of Hunter Cure.
