Football: Groton Area shuts out Mobridge

GROTON - Austin Luecke scored four touchdowns as Groton Area shutout Mobridge 42-0 in Class 11B semifinals.

Groton dominated the ground game with 267 rushing yards and held Mobridge to a mere 18 yards on 17 carries.

Luecke led the Groton offense with 148 yards on 20 carries and paced the defense with six tackles and an interception.

Sam Thorson found the end zone on runs of 9 and 11 yards and tallied 54 rushing yards in the win.

Mobridge quarterback David Hathaway struggled, completing only 3-of-13 pass attempts for 24 yards with three interceptions.

Cody Stotz led Mobridge with 23 yards on 7 carries. Hathaway and Dan Budzinski each made nine tackles to help the defense.

Mobridge finishes the season 6-5. Groton Area (9-2) wins a trip to the Dakota Dome in Vermillion to face Tri-Valley for the 11B championship on Thursday.
