Three scheduled motorsports events for the weekend have been cancelled or postponed days in advance by the threat of inclement weather.

Black Hills Speedway manager Bill Keester confirmed that Friday night's American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region sprint car tour stop at BHS has been postponed until Aug. 7.

According to the ASCS website, Saturday night's ASCS races at Gillette Thunder Speedway were also been postponed until, Saturday, Aug. 8.

In case the weather does hold off, both BHS and Gillette plan regular nights of racing in place of the ASCS sprint cars.

Keester said there would be no Sunday make-up date at BHS if the Friday night races are cancelled because of weather.

The forecast also prompted Sturgis Dragway to cancel this weekend's scheduled make-up races.

Last Friday night at Black Hills Speedway saw the third different winner in three nights of racing in the Midwest Modified division.

Travis McDonnell of Wall won the A-feature, finishing ahead of the two previous feature winners, Casey Skyberg of Rapid City and Allen Locken of Gillette.

Other feature winners included Troy Murner, of Rapid City, who claimed his third straight victory in the Black Hills Racing Series Grand National Stock Car division, and Matt Heinzerling of Belle Fourche, who won his second BHRS 360 Sprint Car feature of the year.

John Lefler, of Rapid City, won his first Wissota Super Stock feature of the season, with Chris Walker of Philip and Mike Jager, of Rapid City, second and third.
