The Kimball Lady Kiotes (27-3 overall) downed Harding County in five games, 25-12, 28-26, 22-25, 14-25, 15-13. With the win Kimball advances to consolation championship at 9 a.m. Saturday against Mt. Vernon.
"In the first couple games our middle's did an outstanding job shutting down their hitters," said Kimball head coach Sarah Deffenbaugh. "But Harding County battled and came back in games three and four and you have to give them credit for that. In game five, our hitters really came out and took it to them and I think that gave us the edge."
Kimball was led in attack by Heather Spier, who had 19 kills and Andrea Taylor, who chipped in 12. Harding County was led offensively by Joey Painter, who had 16 kills.
The Ranchers will play for seventh place today at 4 p.m. against Faulkton.
