RAPID CITY - Longtime Central Cobbler basketball coach Dave Strain will be honored at a Rapid City Cobbler basketball reunion Dec. 19 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the club level in the new arena at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

The reunion will be held in conjunction with the Lakota Nation Invitational Tournament later this month.

Strain will also be honored at one of the basketball games following the reunion.

All former players and the general public are invited to attend and help Dick Shilvock and Pat Jones recall memories of former Cobbler seasons and championships.

Griggs to perform at Rush game

RAPID CITY - Country music star Andy Griggs will be performing during today's Rapid City Rush game at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

The Rush host Rocky Mountain at 7:05 p.m. today.

Rapid City will be hosting a private meet and greet at 3:30 p.m. today with Griggs and contestants that won the opportunity to play a round of Texas Hold 'Em with Griggs. The poker game begins at 4 p.m. and will take place outside the new ice arena at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City.

Griggs will be available for an autograph session after the game along with the entire Rapid City Rush hockey team. Team posters will be provided for the first 3,000 fans and the team will be hosting an autograph session immediately following the game.

The Rush continue their home stint with a doubleheader this Friday and Saturday against the Mississippi River Kings.

Rapid City Racers to host swim meet

The Rapid City Racers swim team is hosting its annual winter invite on Dec. 13 and 14 at the Roosevelt Swim Center. More than 200 swimmers from South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska are expected at the meet.
