MARSHALL, Minn. - Jamie January scored on a 20-yard touchdown reception with 8 seconds left in the game to lead Black Hills State to a 21-14 victory over Southwest Minnesota State Saturday.

Southwest State had a chance to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, driving the ball to the Black Hills State 31-yard line. But Mustang running back Zach Wysong fumbled the ball on 3rd and 1 and the Yellow Jackets recovered at their own 33-yard line with 1:09 to play.

Tanner Ehrlich rushed for 122 yards. The BHSU offense rushed for a total of 124 yards.

Drew Hodgs connected on 13-of-27 passes for 212 yards through the air. Corey Wheeler caught five passes for 120 yards. Jamie January caught four passes for 70 yards including two touchdowns.

For the Yellow Jacket defense, Richard Fairhead made 11 tackles and Josh Fundis added nine tackles.

N. Iowa 24 , South Dakota 13: Pat Grace threw two touchdown passes and Northern Iowa turned away three late drives by South Dakota to beat the Coyotes 24-13 on Saturday.

Grace was 10 of 14 for 130 yards for the Panthers (1-1). He tossed a 16-yard TD pass to Schuylar Oordt and a 32-yarder to Johnny Gray. Corey Lewis rushed for 154 yards on 21 carries and scored UNI's other touchdown on a 12-yard run in the first quarter.

Billy Hallgren added a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

SOUTH Dakota St. 40, Youngstown St. 7: Ryan Berry passed for 319 yards and a touchdown and Kyle Minett ran for 123 yards and two scores as South Dakota State rolled over Youngstown State 40-7 on Saturday.

The Jackrabbits (1-1) raced out to a

27-0 halftime lead and coasted through the second half against the Penguins

(0-2).

Berry completed 19 of 30 passes, including a 34-yard touchdown to JaRon Harris. Berry also scored on a 1-yard run.

Emporia St. 27, Augustana 14: Andre Sloan-El rushed for a touchdown and threw for another as Emporia State took a 27-0 lead Saturday and held on to beat Augustana College 27-14.

Sloan-El threw for 132 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown strike to Danny McEvoy in the first quarter for the Hornets (2-0).

Sloan-El added an 8-yard touchdown run. Seville Ko and Zach Rampy also scored as Emporia State went up 27-0 with 12:25 remaining.

Winona St. 39, Northern St. 14: Andrew Verboncouer scored twice and Greg Preston threw two touchdown passes to lead Winona State to a 39-14 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over Northern State on Saturday.

Verboncouer scored on runs of 1 and 7 yards. Randy Spring ran for 188 yards and an 11-yard touchdown for the Warriors (1-1, 1-0 NSIC). Preston was 21-for-30 for 185 yards.

Tavis Ve'e scored on a 25-yard pass from Eric Ellingson and on a 59-yard run for the Wolves (0-2, 0-1). Ve'e rushed for 108 yards.

Sioux Falls 35, Nebraska Wesleyan 0: Quarterback Lorenzo Brown ran for two touchdowns and threw for another and the Sioux Falls defense gave up just 126 yards in a season-opening 35-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday.

Brown scored had touchdown runs of 1 and 8 yards, and he threw a 19-yard TD pass to Nick Ramstad. He was 13-for-24 for 138 yards. The Cougars (1-0) outgained Nebraska Wesleyan (0-1) 400-126 in total yards.
