RAPID CITY - The 2008 edition of the South Dakota High School Football Records Book is now available throughout South Dakota. The second edition of the records book has several new entries, including additions to both the 9- and 11-man records. Several outstanding performances from the 2007 season are documented. The book compares, in some manner, the outstanding performances of the past year, to other past performances.
The 2008 South Dakota High School Football Records Book is available throughout South Dakota at independent bookstores, sporting goods outlets and sponsoring radio and television stations. Look for the 2008 edition at the beginning of the upcoming season.
People interested in the book may also order the records book directly from Mariah Press, 2420 S. Center Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD, 57105. Copies are $9.95 each; plus $.59 tax and $5 shipping.
SDSM&T women's basketball team adds recruit
RAPID CITY - The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball program have added another member to its roster.
Maria Luze, a 5-foot-8 guard from Brookings, is a four-time letter winner in basketball and track as well and five-time letter winner in cross country for the Bobcats.
Luze earned the outstanding senior athlete award, was selected as most inspirational in track, was a co-captain for basketball as a senior and most recently was on the South Dakota All Star Basketball while attending Brookings.
She also shines off the court earning an Honor Merit Scholar award, is an Honor Scholar Student selection and was academic all-state from 2004 to 2008 in basketball, track and cross country.
"Maria has the desire to get better and better. She moved up to Class AA Brookings in high school to play at the tougher competition," Hardrocker head coach Barb Felderman said. "Maria has developed into an excellent shooter - something any team can use. We look forward to coaching this positive young lady."
While attending South Dakota School of Mines, Luze plans to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.
