Men's basketball: Jackets upset Vikings 58-56

VALLEY CITY, N.D. - Black Hills State avenged an earlier loss to Dakota Athletic Conference foe Valley City State with a 58-56 win on the road in Friday night's contest.

Valley City State came into the game sitting second in the DAC while Black Hills was in fifth. The last time the teams played on Jan. 12 in Spearfish, Valley City State came out on top 75-64.

Black Hills State led 33-23 after the first half, but Valley City claimed the next interval, 33-25.

The Yellow Jackets' Parker Emerson led all scorers with 18 points. A.J. Fodness chipped in with 14 points.

Mark Klingberg paced the Vikings with 14 points. Tyler Macomber netted 13.

Black Hills State held a 42-36 rebounding advantage. However, the Yellow Jackets had twice as many turnovers as the Vikings (18-9).

With the win, the Black Hills State moves to 14-12 overall and 6-6 in the DAC while Valley City State falls to 19-7 and 8-4.

Black Hills State wraps up the weekend road trip with Jamestown College today, while Valley City State hosts South Dakota Mines.
