HOT SPRINGS - Chadron, Neb., turned back Hot Springs 77-46 on Monday night as the Cardinals broke out to an early lead and never looked back.
Kane Hencey scored 16 to lead Chadron, while Zac Bargen had 14 and Alec Holmquist added 13.
"They (Chadron) were by far the best team we have seen this season," said Hot Springs head coach Kim Henningsen.
"They are for real…they have size, speed, can shoot inside and outside and can move the basketball around. They are an impressive team."
The Cardinals led 22-8 after the first quarter break and 48-23 at the intermission.
"We played hard," said Henningsen. "Things just didn't go our way."
Jay Miles scored 12 points to lead the Bison while KC Fees added 11.
Hot Springs matched Chadron on 3-pointers, but the visitors made 12 more field goals in the game.
Hot Springs (1-9) will return to Black Hills Conference play on Friday when they visit Newell.
Bowman, N.D., 61, Harding Co. 37BUFFALO - Alex Wolf scored a game-high 17 points as Bowman, N.D., defeated Harding County 61-37 in boys basketball action on Monday.
The visitors held a 37-18 advantage at halftime and led by 30 points, 57-27, after three quarters.
Eight players shared the scoring for the Ranchers. Trinity Till paced the team with eight.
Harding County (1-10) hosts Grand River tonight.
Timber Lake 54, Eureka-Bowdle 36
TIMBER LAKE - Timber Lake outscored Eureka-Bowdle 24-11 in the second quarter to take control of the game en route to a 54-36 win over the Patriots.
C.J. Pesicka and Nathan Kraft scored 10 points each for the Panthers.
Mitchell Hoellein led Eureka-Bowdle (0-9) with 11 and Blane Osterday added 10.
Timber Lake (6-2) will play in Bison tonight against the Cardinals.
Cheyenne-EB 75, St. Francis 44
EAGLE BUTTE - Sam Mendoza scored 20 points as four Braves scored in double figures as Cheyenne-Eagle Butte downed St. Francis 75-44.
Charlie Marshall contributed 16 markers with Chase Pay Pay and Myles Frazier adding 11 each for the winners.
"We finally had a game where we put some things together," said CEB head coach Jesse Mendoza. "We rebounded well, cut down on our turnovers and got some balanced scoring."
St. Francis was led by Richard Spotted Tail's 17 points and Tim Little Shield's 13.
Winner 64, South Central 42
WINNER - Three players scored in double figures as Winner rolled to a 64-42 victory over South Central.
Twenty points separated the teams as Winner took a 30-10 lead after the first quarter. The Warriors led 34-18 at the half and 47-28 after three.
Zach Horstman paced Winner with 18 points; Ryan Kindt added 14 and Seth Daughters contributed 13. Kindt earned a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Tyler Fernau led all scorers with 23 points for South Central. Luke Tuttle netted 11.
South Central made more than two times as many turnovers as Winner, 20-8.
Winner (6-4) travels to Martin for a double-header with Bennett County and South Central (1-8) hosts Kimball tonight.
