Alyssa Krogman scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Jones County rolled past Kadoka Area 64-35 in Western Great Plains girls basketball conference action on Tuesday.

Whitney Reed also finished in double-figure scoring with 10 points. Nine players scored for the Coyotes.

Mariah Krogman added six points and led the team with 10 rebounds.

"Our defense has held our opponents in the 40-point range," Jones County head coach Neil Krogman said. "With low scoring, you tend to keep yourself in the game."

Emmylu Antonsen led the Kougars with 11 points. Sammi Berry netted 10 points and paced the team with seven rebounds.

Kadoka Area (0-3 overall and 0-3 in conference) hosts Philip on Monday.

Jones County (3-0, 3-0) hosts Wall in a double-header with the boys on Friday.

R.C. Central 47, Spearfish 24: Rapid City Central earned its first win, 47-24, over Spearfish.

"It was a fairly even game throughout the first quarter," said Central coach Kraig Blomme, whose team ended the quarter up 20-19.

But with good halfcourt defense and transition offense, the Cobblers pulled away, making the score 29-14 at half.

Betsy Moler scored 13 points and Kattie Ranta added nine for Central.

Rapid City Central (1-2 overall) hosts Mitchell on Friday and Huron on Saturday. Spearfish (0-3) will travel to Lead-Deadwood on Jan. 3.

Newell 74, Lead-Deadwood 43: Four players scored in double figures as Newell defeated Lead-Deadwood 74-43 in Black Hills Conference action Tuesday.

"Lead-Deadwood came out hard," Newell head coach Don DeBoer said. "Our press bothered them a little and got us some easy layups, and we rolled from there."

Newell held a 20-point lead, 37-17, at halftime and never let up.

Monica Deighton led the Irrigator offensive charge with 21 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Jordan Trohkimoinen scored 15 points including two 3s.

Mandi Durch added 14 points and Karissa Orr netted 10 including a pair of 3s.

The Irrigators shot 50 percent from the field (29-of-57) while the Golddiggers hit 40 percent (17-of-42). The 'Diggers turned the ball over 22 times while Newell lost possession 11 times.

Rachel Stagner paced the Golddiggers with 13 points. Mackenzi Rogers added 11 points.

Newell (3-0 overall, 3-0 BHC) hosts Harding County on Friday. Lead-Deadwood (0-2, 0-2 BHC) will host the Stateline Shootout this weekend.

TIMBER LAKE 36, SELBY AREA 24: Kasidee Traversie scored 14 points and Jaclyn Richter netted 10 as Timber Lake defeated Selby Area 36-24 on Tuesday.

Timber Lake took control of the game early with a 12-6 lead after the first and the Panthers never relinquished the advantage.

Terelle Nash-Keller paced the Lions with a game-high 15 points. Selby Area falls to 0-2 on the season.

Timber Lake (2-0 overall) hosts Mobridge-Pollock on Thursday.

Harding County 59, Lemmon 28: Samantha Jensen and Joey Painter each recorded double-doubles as Harding County downed Lemmon, 59-28.

The Ranchers jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the first quarter en route to the 31-point victory.

"We worked the ball around and didn't force anything," said Harding County head coach Josh Page. "Offensively, our half-court execution was good."

Jensen finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Ranchers, followed by Painter with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Bobbi Beer and Kaitlyn VanBeek netted six points each to lead the Cowgirls.

Harding County (1-1) hosts Wall on Thursday and Lemmon (1-2) faces Mobridge-Pollock on the road on Monday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Belle Fourche 60, Sturgis 48: Brady Bisgaard scored a game-high 24 points as Belle Fourche battled past Sturgis 60-48 in boys basketball action in Belle Fourche on Tuesday.

The Broncs jumped to an early 17-5 lead after the first, but Sturgis came within striking distance at the half, trailing 28-20.

"Our intensity was key in the win," Belle Fourche coach Jim Martin said. "Early in the game, we shot the ball well and did well with our offense and our transition.

Jason Webb netted four three-pointers and finished with 16 points for Belle Fourche. Jake Walker led the team with 10 rebounds.

Foul trouble hampered the Scoopers. Despite fouling out, Seth Bachand recorded a double-double with a team-high 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Laban Clement netted 13 points for the Scoopers (0-3 overall). Sturgis is back in action on Jan. 6 when the Scoopers travel to Douglas.

Belle Fourche (1-1 overall) will play in the Stateline Shootout this weekend against Newcastle and Sundance, Wyo.

Lead-Deadwood 78, Newell 41: Jared Mack netted nine three-pointers en route to 35 points as Lead-Deadwood defeated Newell 78-41 in a Black Hills Conference boys basketball game.

"Jared Mack was on fire tonight," Newell head coach Scott Wince said. "He was nailing 3s from every where. We just couldn't stop him."

The Golddiggers, who shot 53 percent from the field (31-of-59), found another shooter in Tanner Adler who scored 19 points including a trio of 3s.

Sterling Boylan led the Irrigators with 13 points. Patrick Gatzke added 10 points and led the team with six rebounds. Newell shot 37 percent from the field (15-of-41).

Newell (0-2 overall and 0-2 BHC) hosts Douglas on Thursday night.

New Underwood 75, Edgemont 30: Four players scored in double figures as New Underwood raced to a 75-30 victory over Edgemont in Western Great Plains action.

Jace Finkbeiner led the Tigers with 17 points, while Garett Whipple followed with 14 points and Cole Swanson and Collin Crosbie finished with 12 and 11 points respectively.

The Moguls were led by Arron Mower and Skye Van Fossen with 11 points each.

"We're a young team," said Edgemont head coach Nate Cortney. "We need to work on rebounding and turnovers."

New Underwood (1-0) hosts Faith on Friday and Edgemont (0-2) travels to Philip on Saturday.

Sully Buttes 69, Lyman 58: Four players scored in double figures as Sully Buttes pulled away in the second half for a 69-58 victory over Lyman.

The Chargers trailed by one at halftime, but outscored the Raiders 38-27 in the second half for the win.

Zach Merwin netted 20 points to pace the Chargers, followed by Ryan Yackley with 16 points and Jackson Sherer and Tanner Foth with 10 each.

Lyman was led by Leeland Odell's 14 points, while Jared Anderson chipped in 13 points.

Sully Buttes (2-0) plays Sisseton in Aberdeen and Lyman (1-1) hosts Miller on Friday.

Hot Springs 73, Wall 54: Blake McPherson scored 28 points and helped Hot Springs down Wall, 73-54.

The Eagles cut the Bison lead to five points midway through the fourth quarter, but McPherson answered with 17 points in the final stanza to give Hot Springs the win.

"We got a slow start but battled back and played hard," said Wall head coach Mark Ammann. "Give Hot Springs credit though. They took advantage of us with their size and we didn't have an answer."

Jesse Monfore finished with 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Hot Springs.

Calder Johnston led the Eagles attack with 17 points.

Hot Springs (2-0) travels to Douglas on Saturday and Wall (2-1) hosts Bennett County on Thursday.

Winner 61, Stanley County 51: Three players scored in double figures as Winner notched a 61-51 Big Dakota Conference win over Stanley County.

Braden Gardner paced the Warriors with 19 points. Zach Horstman netted 18 points.

Tanner Best recorded a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Jake Miller scored 11 points to lead Stanley County (0-2 overall, 0-1 BDC).

Winner (2-0 overall, 1-0 BDC) hosts Chamberlain on Dec. 23.

Timber Lake 63, Wakpala 57: Jace Long scored 23 points as Timber Lake defeated Wakpala, 63-57.

Also in double-figure scoring for the Panthers was Dayton Takes The Knife (16) and Jace Booth (10).

Donaven Yellow paced the Sioux with 16 points. Sabeion Garter added 10.

Timber Lake (2-0 overall) travels to Selby Area and Wakpala heads to Faith on Saturday.

Miller Area 67, Gettysburg 42: Jordan Peterka and Aaron Zeller each scored 17 points as Miller Area defeated Gettysburg 67-42.

Andrew Augspurger netted 10 points in the Rustlers first game of the season.

Jared Schrempp paced the Battlers (0-1 overall) with 19 points. Jason Hanson added 11 points, a team-high eight rebounds and three assists.

James Valley Christian 58, Highmore-Harrold 52: Sam Kleinsasser scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead James Valley Christian to a 58-52 win over Highmore-Harrold in girls basketball action on Tuesday.

Bailey Kusser netted 15 points to pace Highmore-Harrold, followed by Kayla Ryan with 12 points and Logan Cowan chipped in 11 points.

James Valley Christian (3-0) hosts Sunshine Bible Academy on Friday and Highmore-Harrold (0-1) travels to Gettysburg on Thursday.
