RAPID CITY - Rapid City Central basketball standout Jami Morris has signed a letter of intent to prowl the women's basketball hardwood for Coach Curt Fredrickson and the Northern State Wolves next season.

Morris, a 5-foot-8 point guard, averaged 11 points and four rebounds per game during her senior season for the Cobblers.

She shot 80 percent from the free-throw line and also averaged 46 percent from three-point range totaling 39 treys during the year.

"It's a really good program and the coach is very prestigious," Morris said. "I thought it would nice to play at that level."

Also attracting her to Northern State is a newly-instituted 20-game junior varsity schedule allowing younger players to gain college-level experience before moving up to the varsity level.

"I'm really excited about that," she said.

Morris was a first-team All-Greater Dakota Conference pick, as well as second-team All-State and a 2007 Class AA All-Tournament selection.

She will participate in the South Dakota Coaches all-star game in Aberdeen in July.

Morris is undecided on a major, but is considering the medical field, she said.
